The Päri Archive is an online platform that provides useful information on their culture, history and heritage, and it focuses on Päri people (Jo-Päri), who are found in Lafon County of Eastern Equatoria State in the Republic of South Sudan.
Our purpose is to help young people who struggle to find information on their cultural heritage by reducing the time they spend searching for information. With our easy-to access platform, they can access information on one spot. We are the only platform created and designed for preserving Päri cultural heritage.
The young people are not alone in their struggle. In 2023, Ranga Gworo (Abuamoi) spent one year researching information on Päri cultural heritage by visiting the South Sudan National Archive, reading written and online materials and collecting oral history. As a result of the search challenges, Ranga recognised the need to create an online archive that would allow young people to access information online with ease regardless of where they are. Against the background of financial limitation, Ranga was unable to fulfil his dream. However, Ranga was able to overcome the hurdle after SiMULA offered to help him last year.
